NASCAR star suspended for one weekend

From Comcast SportsNet
CHARLOTTE, North Carolina (AP) -- NASCAR on Monday suspended Kurt Busch one week for verbally abusing a media member. NASCAR said Busch's behavior after Saturday's Nationwide Series race at Dover was in violation of the probation he was placed on after an incident last month at Darlington. Busch was fined 50,000 by NASCAR and placed on probation through July 25 for reckless driving on pit road, and a post-race altercation with Ryan Newman's crew members. That probation has now been extended through the end of the year. Busch's latest penalty stems from a confrontation with a Sporting News reporter after Saturday's race.

Celtics lose Gordon Hayward to gruesome leg injury in season-opener vs. Cavaliers

Gordon Hayward made his Celtics debut on Tuesday night as Boston took on the Cleveland Cavaliers in a rematch of the 2017 Eastern Conference Finals.

But Hayward's game, and possibly season, came to an end in the first half after the former Jazz small forward suffered a gruesome ankle injury.

With the Celtics trailing by 12 in the first quarter, Hayward landed awkwardly under the Celtics basket and his leg snapped in grotesque fashion, like Paul George's leg did during the summer of 2015.

To watch the gruesome injury, you can click here. Trust us, it's not good.

You could hear a player on the braodcast scream "He broke his leg. He broke his leg."

Players, both Cavaliers and Celtics, huddled up, hoping for the best.

MarciN Gortat was one of the many players to issue the kindest respects following the awful injury.

The Wizards make their season debut on Wednesday when they host the Philadelphia 76ers at Capital One Center.

A Caps team already without Eller and Niskanen loses Graovac in first period against Toronto

The Capitals came into Tuesday's game a bit shorthanded with Lars Eller out due to an illness and Matt Niskanen on LTIR. They lost yet another player in the first period as Tyler Graovac out for the rest of the night due to an upper-body injury.

Graovac took two hits from Leafs forward Matt Martin that may have led to the injury.

Martin gave Graovac a two-handed shove in the back that knocked Graovac to the ice. You can see after the play Graovac doubles back to have a quick word with Martin after the hit.

Graovac took another hit from Martin on his next shift.

This time, Graovac appears to see Martin coming and leans into the check, but took the full brunt of the hit on his left shoulder. He can be seen favoring his left arm/shoulder later before exiting down the tunnel.

Graovac was in Tuesday's lineup centering the third line in place of the sick Eller.
