Game 3 of the NLDS could have presented a do-or-die situation for the Washington Nationals. The team with so much promise heading into the postseason found its bats silenced by the Chicago Cubs, and they lost Game 1 of the series.
Game 2 looked like it would be the same scenario in Washington, and the Nats would have to go to Chicago down 2-0 against the defending World Series champions.
But thanks to Bryce Harper and Ryan Zimmerman, things took a turn for the Nats when their trailed the Cubs 3-1 in the eighth inning. First, Harper rocked a two-run homer to tie the game, and later that inning, Zimmerman stepped up and, with the help of some wind, hit a three-run homer to give the Nats a 6-3 lead and eventually the win.
