Ravens safety Tony Jefferson considers the late Sean Taylor a legend, and on the 10-year anniversary of his death, Jefferson paid tribute to the Redskins' safety with his signature look on Monday Night Football.
Back in 2005, Taylor decided to wrap tape around his facemask to showcase a more intimidating look while on the field. During the Ravens' game Monday night against the Houston Texans, Jefferson decided to do the same.
I had to show respect to Sean ‘T’. He is one of the greatest in the short tenure that he got to play,” Jefferson said. “Much respect to him. I wanted to go out there and show a little bit of respect for what he has done for the game.
You could argue that honoring Taylor brought Jefferson some much needed luck.
During the second quarter of Monday's game, Jefferson got his first interception as a Raven.
It was a terrible thing that happened to him and his family, so it is the least I could do,” Jefferson said. “He probably helped me out on that interception, so shout out to Sean ‘T.'
In addition to his 13 yard interception, Jefferson finished the night with 2 tackles and 1 assist.
