FANTASY FOOTBALL: WEEK 6 RANKINGS
Five Redskins who are under pressure against the 49ers
QB Kirk Cousins—He is starting to round into form and he needs to take advantage of a pass defense that is in the bottom half of the league in nearly every statistical category. Cousins could take advantage of corners Rashard Robinson and Dontae Johnson to feed Josh Doctson and Terrelle Pryor.
RB Samaje Perine—Rob Kelley didn’t practice on Wednesday and Jay Gruden said that he is a “long shot” to play on Sunday. If Kelley is out, Perine will need to find more running room to improve on his average of 3.1 yards per carry and hold on to the ball (while the bobbled pitch in Kansas City was charged to Cousins, Perine should have had it). And even if Kelley goes, Perine needs to be ready for an extended relief role and the same needs will apply.
OLB Preston Smith—If the Redskins want to kick the 49ers while they are down, the best thing to do is to keep pressure on quarterback Brian Hoyer. Smith, who has one sack in each of Washington’s four games, will be the key to keeping Hoyer on the run. It would be a good time for his first multi-sack game of the year.
NT Ziggy Hood—The 49ers’ most effective offensive weapon has been RB Carlos Hyde, who is nearly on a 1000-yard pace and is averaging a solid 4.5 yards per carry. It will be up to Hood to keep blockers engaged and let the linebackers bring down Hyde close to the line.
CB Bashaud Breeland—With Josh Norman out, he probably won’t follow Pierre Garçon from side to side but Breeland certainly will find himself matched up against the former Redskin a lot of the time. Garçon will catch his share but keeping him locked up in key situations and keeping him for getting loose deep will be up to Breeland a lot of the time.
