CARSON, CA.— The Redskins will be without some key players for their game today but, given the injury-plagued nature of 2017 season, you already knew that.
The following players will be inactive today as the Redskins visit the Chargers:
- TE Jordan Reed
- S Montae Nicholson
- WR Maurice Harris
- WR Robert Davis
- C Chase Roullier
- DL Terrell McClain
- G Kyle Kalis
Reed, Nicholson, and Harris were declared out on the final injury report on Friday.
Reed, the 2016 Pro Bowl tight end, will miss his sixth straight game with a hamstring injury. He did not practice all week. As we get closer to the end of the season there may be some talk of shutting him down for the year but for now this isj ust for this week.
Earlier this week, it looked like Nicholson would have a shot at playing after missing two games with a concussion. He was able to practice on Monday. But Jay Gruden said that he suffered a setback in his recovery. The rookie did not practice the rest of the week.
The declaration that Harris would be out with a concussion was somewhat surprising as he practiced on a limited basis and told reporters during the week that he expected to play. But concussions are hard to predict and he could not get cleared through the concussion protocol.
Listed as questionable in the final injury report were McClain (toe) and Roullier (hand). The both practiced on a limited basis last week but likely need another week to rehab. Roullier’s absence means that Tony Bergstrom will start his third straight game at center.
The good news is that the Redskins ’bookend offensive tackles, Trent Williams (knee) and Morgan Moses (ankles) will start. Both were listed as questionable.
