Last week just about every boating and fishing outing was cancelled.
Water will be a lot cooler this weekend, muddier too! Also look out for debris in the water!
The river has really cooled off! Expect water to be around 50 for a high this week! NBC Ch. 4 meteorologist "Weather Kim" Martucci says, “Looks like daytime highs will be around 50 with overnight lows in the low 30s until Wednesday when a cold rain comes through bringing wind and rain into Thursday. Friday warms and a nice weekend is on the way with mild 60s and overnight lows in the mid 40s.”
The river will be muddy, except in water treatment discharge areas and backs of creeks. Look for fish to hold very tight to cover (logs, docks and riprap) in areas with less than 12 inches of visibility. Water should still be higher than normal. Get tight to shoreline cover and pitch black/blue 1/2-ounce Mann's Stone Jigs, with heavy soaking in garlic Jack's Juice spray. Punisher rattles are perfect for plastic chunks. For other plastics Mizmos 4-inch Swamp Monster creates a lot of disturbance. Rattles and Jacks Juice here too! Fish very slow, staying in one spot for a while. Fish will eat, but are not chasing. Tie both to GAMMA Edge Fluorocarbon 14 or 16-pound test.
Try Gold or painted Silver Buddy lures tied to 12-pound test GAMMA Copoly in colder water. Gently "burp" the bait a few inches off the bottom. Let it sit and repeat, tight lining to the bottom. Fish areas with a steep drop, out of the current.
Also, slowly retrieved Lucky Craft Red LV-500 lipless cranks on fluorocarbon across creek mouth points as water warms later in the day and by the end of the week.
So, this is a weird way to end a basketball game.
The Wizards were up just two points on the Denver Nuggets with :32 seconds left on Monday night when talented third-year center Nikola Jokic made a mistake that may have cost Denver a win. During a timeout, Jokic bumped shoulders with Wizards head coach Scott Brooks. Brooks was immediately incensed and Jokic was awarded a technical.
It was a bizarre moment. Watch it here:
Bradley Beal hit the technical free throw, then sank a layup on the next possession. Jokic made dumb mistake, whether it was intentional or not, and the Wizards capitalized in a 109-104 win.
Naturally, the Wizards were surprised by what went down.
“That’s something you don’t do," John Wall said. "No matter what’s going on between players and teammates. That’s something you don’t do to a coach. That’s like me calling a coach a certain name. Hopefully he apologizes to [Brooks], but luckily we got the win.”
Both Brooks and Jokic said it wasn't on purpose.
“It was an awkward, weird situation. I don’t think he did it on purpose but it happened," Brooks said. "I moved on and the referee had to do what he had to do and move on. But I never had that happened before.”
“I’m sorry because I put my team in a bad position,” Jokic said.
Jokic's excuse was that he was trying to look at the score. You be the judge.

The Redskins went into Lincoln Financial Field somewhat banged up. They left in worse shape than they were when they arrived.
The most significant injury seemed to be to guard Brandon Scherff. Coach Jay Gruden said that he had an MCL injury and that he will get an MRI on Tuesday. He left the game late in the third quarter and did not return. Scherff rarely takes plays off and the feeling is that he could have a significant injury. He headed to the team bus to the airport with a brace on the knee.
OT Trent Williams came into the game with a patella injury in his knee and he aggravated it late in the game, missing the Redskins’ last couple of possessions. He did not practice all week to rest the injury. We will see as the week goes by if the injury will allow Williams to continue to play.
OT Morgan Moses sprained both ankles and he returned to the game after each injury. He undoubtedly will be very sore tomorrow and we will see how he recovers.

The other reported injuries were more minor in nature, although they could cost the players some games. CB Fabian Moreau had a hamstring strain and he left the game. OLB Preston Smith, who has been one of the team’s best pass rushers this year, left the game with a groin strain. He attempted to return but he had to go back out. CB Josh Holsey had a chest contusion and he returned after going to the locker room to be examined.
