Looking for a cool way to spend your week next week? The Capitals will conduct their annual development camp at Kettler Capitals Iceplex in Arlington from Monday, July 9 through Saturday, July 14.
Twenty-two Washington Capitals prospects, including eight of the 10 selections from last months NHL draft, will participate in the teams annual camp. The camp features recent Capitals draft picks, select rookies and other prospects and includes on- and off-ice workouts as well as scrimmages.
Among the confirmed participants are Capitals first-round draft picks Filip Forsberg 11th overall in 2012 and Tom Wilson 16th overall in 2012. Four participants Barry Almeida, David Civitarese, Cameron Schilling and T.J. Syner played for the American Hockey Leagues Hershey Bears during the 2011-12 season. Two players from last seasons development camp played for the Capitals in 2011-12 Dmitry Orlov and Cody Eakin.
All development camp on-ice workouts, which will include multiple scrimmages, are open to the public. The off-ice workouts are closed to the public. Camp concludes with a scrimmage on Saturday, July 14, at 10 a.m. Fan Fest that day will also include autograph sessions, interactive games, street hockey, a free public skate, the teams annual equipment sale and an appearance from newly acquired center Mike Ribeiro, who will sign autographs for fans from 10 11 a.m.
