The Capitals recalled defenseman Aaron Ness from the AHL Hershey Bears today, but from the looks of the team’s morning skate, he may not be in the lineup tonight against the New York Islanders at Verizon Center (7:30 p.m., NBCSN).
Defenseman Taylor Chorney, who left Tuesday night’s game with flu-like symptoms, skated alongside Dmitry Orlov on the Caps’ third defense pairing on Thursday, an indication he’ll be in the lineup tonight against the Isles.
Ness skated on a fourth defense pairing with Brooks Orpik, who will miss his 35th straight game.
Ness, 25, had two assists in eight games with the Capitals this season. Ness was drafted by the Islanders in the second round, 40th overall, in the 2008 NHL draft and signed with the Caps as a free agent on July 1, 2015.
Ness has 15 points (two goals, 13 assists) and 16 penalty minutes in 32 games with the Bears this season.
