It's been a crazy week for the Caps who won four games, two in comeback fashion. T.J. Oshie had a lot to do with that and the NHL has taken notice.
The NHL named Oshie on Tuesday as its Second Star for the week ending on Dec. 20. In the team's four games, Oshie recorded five goals and three assists.
Oshie was fantastic in Pittsburgh, scoring two goals and adding another assist in a 4-1 win over the rival Penguins. He also sparked Friday's comeback against Tampa Bay with an assist to setup Alex Ovechkin for the Caps' first goal of the game. He finished with two goals and two assists, his third career four-point game.
On Sunday, Oshie also scored the game-tying goal against the New York Rangers in what would be the team's second consecutive multi-goal comeback win.
Oshie was acquired in the offseason to provide balance to a top line that has been a two-man show with Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom. Oshie has certainly done that with 13 goals and nine assists on the season.
Today's announcement will serve as an early birthday present for the Everett, Wash. native who turns 29 on Wednesday.
