The South Carolina Stringrays of the ECHL will pay tribute to their NHL affiliate this season with Washington Capitals-themed jerseys. The team revealed their third jersey on Thursday.
The Caps and Stingrays are entering their 11th season as affiliates and earlier this year extended their affiliation agreement to through the 2017-18 season.
“Working with the Washington Capitals for over 10 years has been an honor,” said Stingrays President Rob Concannon in a statement released by the team. “We are proud to be affiliated with such a first-class organization. As our relationship and fan base continues to grow, we thought it would be a great idea to design a jersey that represents the Capitals and the Stingrays. ‘Rocking the Red’ will give our players and fans a great sense of pride as we head into the 2016-17 season. There are many Capitals fans in the Charleston area and it’s a great sight to see all of them at the North Charleston Coliseum cheering on the Stingrays.”
