Over three weeks after he lost out on the Nationals' manager position, Bud Black has landed a new job as a special assistant to GM Billy Eppler with the Los Angeles Angels.
Black also interviewed for the Dodgers' manager job before Dave Roberts was ultimately hired for the post this week.
Black, 58, was once thought to be the Nationals' new skipper before a contract dispute came between the two sides. The Nats then turned to Dusty Baker and hired him as their new manager.
Black coached the Padres for nine years before getting fired during the middle of last season. He was seen as a hot coaching candidate this offseason and interviewed with several teams.
Black has front office experience in his past, but one can imagine he will be working towards getting back into the dugout sometime soon, given his interest in manager jobs this offseason.
