The Double-A Eastern League has announced their 2012 All-Stars and the rosters include five Nationals prospects. Pitchers Danny Rosenbaum and Kevin Pucetas, infielder Jeff Kobernus, and outfielders Eury Perez and Chris Rahl will play for the Western Division team on July 11 at FirstEnergy Stadium in Reading, PA.
Rosenbaum highlights the Nats selections as one of the organizations best young pitching prospects. The 24-year-old lefty is 7-4 this year for the Harrisburg Senators and holds a 2.76 ERA and a .251 batting average against. The former 22nd round pick has two complete games this season and just 19 walks allowed in 98.0 innings pitched.
Pucetas is 6-2 this season for Harrisburg with a 2.63 ERA in 61.2 innings pitched. He has made five starts this year and 14 relief appearances with a .223 opponents batting average.
Kobernus was a second round pick of the Nationals in 2009. The 23-year-old is hitting .272 this season with 31 runs and 29 stolen bases in 58 games.
Perez was signed by the Nationals as an amateur free agent in April of 2007 and is the youngest of the All-Star selections. The 22-year-old speedster holds a .294 batting average with 27 RBI and 22 stolen bases in 63 games this season with Harrisburg.
Rahl is the oldest of the group at 28 years old. The William and Mary graduate has a .294 average with six home runs and 33 RBI in 68 games this season. He also has 16 stolen bases and ranks third on the team with 14 doubles.
