Back in December 2011, the Nationals traded catcher prospect Derek Norris to Oakland in the deal that brough Gio Gonzalez to Washington. Almost exactly five years later, the team pulled off a trade to get Norris back, according to multiple reports.

Norris was once #Nats "catcher of the future" but was traded to A's in Gio Gonzalez deal. Good bat, good eye, not great defensively.— Mark Zuckerman (@MarkZuckerman) December 2, 2016
The trade that shipped away Norris in the first place also included pitcher A.J. Cole, whom the Nationals re-aquired in 2013.
Norris joins Washington catchers Jose Lobaton and Pedro Severino. The Nats re-signed Lobaton to a one year deal yesterday after deciding not to bring back All-Star catcher Wilson Ramos, who tore his ACL at the end of last season.
