Bryce Harper is making baseball fun again, and the rest of Major League Baseball is catching on.
On Wednesday night, during ESPN's broadcast of the Nationals' road game against the Mets, New York second baseman Neil Walker was featured in an in-game segment with former player and analyst Doug Glanville.
When Walker was asked how he would help to make baseball fun again, Walker's answer was a bit of a throwback.
"I'd bring back some shorts to the game," Walker said in the pre-taped segment. "Maybe some cutoffs."
Yes, baseball shorts were actually a thing.
The Chicago White Sox wore shorts during the 1976 season, and have been panned ever since.
But after former Cy Young winner Tim Lincecum held an open pitching session for possible suitors last week and pitched in cargo shorts, anything is possible.
Short may not actually make baseball "fun" again, but it sure would be interesting.
