Ryan Zimmerman and Jose Lobaton each landed a pair of hits in their first minor league rehab assignment game with the Triple-A Syracuse Chiefs on Monday night.
Zimmerman homered and hit an RBI single. He also walked and scored two runs. Lobaton singled twice and walked.
Lobaton also stole a base, something he has never done at the big league level. He has four steals in his professional career, all of them in the minors. He hadn't recorded one since 2010.
Zimmerman is on his way back from a left wrist contusion. The first baseman last played on July 31 when Giants reliever Santiago Casilla hit him on the arm with a fastball.
Lobaton last played for the Nats on July 19. He is dealing with left elbow tendinitis.
Zimmerman and Lobaton played in the second game of a doubleheader for the Chiefs. They were in Toledo, Ohio for a matchup with the Mud Hens.
