10 Toughest Games on Skins 2013-14 Schedule
Looking at the toughest games
The Redskins captured their first division title in more than a decade last season. This season they have a strength of schedule .498 and their opponents have a combined record of 127-128-1 from last season. We're taking a look at their 10 toughest games. By Talib Babb, CSNWashington.com
10. Week 3: vs. Detroit Lions
The Detroit Lions, who only managed to win four games last season, come to town. Even though they only won four games, they kept most games close and they also have Calvin Johnson, arguably the best wide receiver in football.
9. Week 10: @ Minnesota Vikings
The Skins will travel to Minnesota for a Thursday night matchup against the Vikings in Week 10. They will face off against Adrian Peterson, who is labeled as the best running back in the game and rushed for 2,097 yards last season. The Vikings also added wide receiver Greg Jennings, who will be a huge help in the passing game.
8. Week 7: vs. Chicago Bears
The Redskins have a home game against the Chicago Bears in Week 7. The Bears had a league-leading 44 takeaways last season and the second closest team was the Skins with 31. Robert Griffin III and company will have to make sure they take extra care of the ball.
7. Week 1: vs. Philadelphia Eagles
The Skins open up the season against the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football. This will be a tough one because lots of uncertainties will surround it. Who will be the Eagles starting quarterback? Will RG3 return from injury? One thing that is certain is that these two division foes will battle.
6. Week 13: vs. New York Giants
The Skins will host the New York Giants in their first of two meetings next season in Week 13. Both games last season were decided by four points or less. With the game being so late in the season, expect playoff spots to be on the line.
5. Week 6: @ Dallas Cowboys
The Skins travel to Dallas to meet their biggest rival, the Cowboys. Washington spoiled the Cowboys' Thanksgiving and season by sweeping them last season. Tony Romo and company will be hungry for revenge.
4. Week 2: @ Green Bay Packers
Washington's first road game will be a tough test against the Green Bay Packers in Week 2. Aaron Rodgers had the best passer rating in the league last season and was second in the league with 39 touchdown passes. The Skins secondary will have to be ready for the aerial attack from Rodgers and company.
3. Week 15: @ Atlanta Falcons
The Redskins will have to travel for a battle against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 15. The Falcons had the best record in the NFC last season and Matt Ryan is 34-7 at home in his career.
2. Week 8: @ Denver Broncos
The Skins will play the Denver Broncos at Mile High in Week 8. Peyton Manning and the Broncos were tied for best record in the league last season and won 11 straight to finish this season. Washington will have to be prepared for the fast-pace Broncos offense.
1. Week 12: vs. San Francisco 49ers
The defending NFC Champion San Francisco 49ers come to FedEx Field for a Monday Night Football matchup. The Skins defense will see what it feels like to play a quick, strong, scrambling quarterback in Colin Kaepernick. The 49ers are the favorite to win it all and this will be a good chance for the Skins to see how they measure up against the NFL's elite.
