Vernon Davis has re-upped with the Redskins for three years but he’s not sure who will the throwing the ball to him.
After signing, Davis talked to Josina Anderson of ESPN. She relayed this quote via Twitter:
"I'm not sure who is going to throw me the ball, but I know Bruce Allen will do everything possible to make sure we have someone good--whether it's Kirk or someone else. But, I hope and pray Kirk comes back. That kid has a bright future."
There are a couple of things to parse here. The most obvious is that he’s not sure who the quarterback will be. As of right now, the team has Kirk Cousins on the exclusive franchise tag. But speculation that he will get traded to the 49ers is running rampant. It appears that team president Bruce Allen did not offer Davis any assurances that a trade won’t take place.

The other nugget in the quick quote is that Davis sees Allen making the call on a Cousins replacement, if needed. That, of course, seems to indicate that Scot McCloughan, who holds the general manager title, is indeed on the outs at Redskins Park.
Davis is set but some other aspects of the Redskins’ team-record setting passing offense, including Cousins and wide receivers Pierre Garçon and DeSean Jackson, are currently in limbo. We’re not sure what is going to happen but it seems pretty certain that Allen will be calling the shots.
