On Sunday the Redskins jumped out to a 28-3 lead over the Bills and cruised to a 35-25 win over Buffalo. That win put the Redskins in sole possession of first place in the NFC East with just two games to go.
Later Sunday night, the Eagles got destroyed by the Arizona Cardinals at home in Philadelphia. The Eagles defense gave up nearly 500 yards en route to a 40-17 loss that dropped them a game behind the 'Skins in the NFC East.
Despite those results, Eagles linebacker Mychal Kendricks still issued the following warning to the Redskins before the two teams face off at Lincoln Financial Field on Saturday night:
"If I know this team and I know myself and I know the guys in here, man, the Redskins got something coming to them,” Kendricks said via CSNPhilly.com. “For real. And that’s real s---. That’s all I’ve got to say.”
Again, Kendricks comments came after his team was blown out at home, so perhaps emotions got the best of him. But it's also worth pointing out the Redskins have already faced the Eagles this season in Week 4. The result? A Redskins win, 23-20, where the Eagles defense gave up more than 300 yards in the loss.
If the Redskins emerge from Philadelphia Saturday night with a win, Washington will have earned the NFC East title. Week 17 at Dallas will be an afterthought. The prize of a division title and home playoff game is likely more than enough for a focused, balanced Redskins team.
But the latest words from Kendricks might also reverberate in the Redskins locker room. And that's real too.
