Former Redskins linebacker Adrian Robinson passed away Sunday at the age of 25, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. The cause of death was not immediately released.
"Adrian was a beloved father, son, brother, friend and teammate," it reads in part. "We ask that you please respect his family’s privacy during this difficult time, and especially keep his daughter Avery Marie in your prayers."
Robinson played brief stints with six teams during his NFL career, beginning as an undrafted free agent with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2012. He also worked his way onto the roster in Philadelphia, Denver, San Diego, Washington, and Tampa Bay.
The Redskins signed Robinson in Dec. 2013 but he did not appear in a regular-season game with the team before being waived in Aug. 2014.
Robinson was a standout at the collegiate level for the Temple Owls, registering 156 tackles and 22.5 sacks in 50 career games.
Former Redskins linebacker Brian Orakpo tweeted the following message on Sunday evening:
"Wow just got word my former teammate from last year Adrian Robinson passed away earlier today," he wrote. "A great young kid w/tremendous talent. RIP AR."
