INDIANAPOLIS—The defensive lineman are getting their heights and weights measured this morning at the NFL Combine and one prospect came in at a weight that raised some eyebrows.
Randy Gregory, the Nebraska defensive end who is expected to be a top-10 pick when the draft gets underway in late April, was at his anticipated height of just shy of 6-5. But he weighed in at 235 pounds.
In an earlier interview, Gregory said that he played at around 250 pounds at Nebraska and that he could get up to 270 if that’s what a team wanted. If he becomes a Redskin he would play outside linebacker Jay Gruden and Joe Barry probably would be happy with him somewhere in the 250-260 range.
The weight issue and the fact that he didn’t always seem to have his motor in high gear will create some questions about him in the Redskins’ draft room if he is still on the board when the Redskins’ top pick comes up at No. 5.
