Look around the Internet and some very misleading pixels emerge about big money Redskins free agent signee Josh Norman. A lot of it stems from this video:
Reactions to the video came fast and furious, sometimes like this tweet below, and others much more animated.
Here's the thing Redskins fans: CALM DOWN.
Receivers have just about every advantage in 1-on-1 drills with cornerbacks. Think about it: There is no safety help for the corners to lean on. There are no linebackers to make the receiver fear going into the middle of the field. There is no pass rush hurrying the quarterback.
While it's fun to watch, corners going solo against receivers in camp is hardly a simulation of the actual action on an NFL field. Scot McCloughan and the Redskins decision makers that spent $75 million to bring Norman to Washington will surely not be swayed by 1-on-1 drills in July. Fans shouldn't either.
Lastly, entire defenses gameplan to stop DeSean Jackson, and often, aren't capable. That's a full NFL defensive staff designing a strategy to slow Jackson, and it doesn't always work. His speed and quicks are arguably the best in the NFL.
Instead of freaking out about Norman, 'Skins fans should be excited about healthy D-Jax looking great in practice. But that's not the way the Internet works.
