The Redskins' season ended in deflating fashion. The team gave a lackluster performance against the Giants when it counted most with the playoffs on the line.
It was an abrupt, and puzzling, end for players and fans who'd envisioned a trip to the postseason.
As the dust settled, numerous Redskins reached out to fans and teammates on Twitter and Instagram to share their feelings. Here's a sampling.
Appreciate y'all have that supported and continue to support me. S/o to my teammates for a fun crazy ass year.— Duke (@NachoLyfe) January 2, 2017
It always hurts when it's fresh. Whatever you're feeling will go away with time. I've been through it, I know. Stay positive my friends. 🙏🏾— Duke (@NachoLyfe) January 2, 2017

Hate that we fell short of our goal, but I want to thank all the fans that stayed down regardless of our situation! #HTTR4L— Martrell spaight (@spaight1) January 2, 2017

Thank you for the year Redskin Nation. Love this team, this organization, and you guys. #HTTR— Will Compton (@_willcompton) January 2, 2017
DeSean Jackson, Duke Ihenacho, Vernon Davis and Chris Baker are all unrestricted free agents in 2017 and may not be back next year. Will Compton and Chris Thompson are restricted free agents.
Their words take on greater meaning from that perspective.
