Here’s a look at who played how much in Week 3 against the Eagles (snap counts via the NFL). Scroll to the bottom of the page for season to date snap counts for each player.
Offense 78 snaps
QB/O-line: Kirk Cousins 78, Trent Williams 78, Chris Chester 78, Kory Lichtensteiger 77, Tyler Polumbus 76, Shaun Lauvao 47, Josh LeRibeus 32, Tom Compton 9
Lauvao became the first O-line starter to miss a substantial number of snaps this year, giving Josh LeRibeus his first extended action since late in the 2012 season. Rookie Spencer Long was active for the first time but he played only a few special teams snaps.
Wide receivers: Pierre Garçon 62, DeSean Jackson 59, Andre Roberts 46, Ryan Grant 8, Aldrick Robinson 3
Jackson was obviously in some pain but he didn’t miss a snap due to injury; after playing a lot with Jackson out last week, Grant’s workload tailed off dramatically.
Tight ends: Niles Paul 66, Logan Paulsen 46
Paulsen started the game but with Jordan Reed still out, Paul played the majority of the tight end snaps.
Running backs: Alfred Morris 51, Roy Helu Jr. 25, Darrel Young 17
Usually when the play calling is pass heavy, Morris and Helu will play roughly an equal number of snaps. Not so this time. Morris went out for passes 15 times and pass blocked 10 times.
Defense 73 snaps
Defensive line: Jason Hatcher 41, Jarvis Jenkins 49; Chris Baker 29, Clifton Geathers 28, Frank Kearse 29
The Redskins did a pretty good job of distributing snaps along the line considering that Baker was ejected early in the fourth quarter and Hatcher exited with a hamstring pull. Jenkins’ 49 snaps was the most for him since Week 5 of the 2012 season against the Falcons.
Linebacker: Keenan Robinson 73, Perry Riley 73, Ryan Kerrigan 72, Brian Orakpo 62, Trent Murphy 31
Murphy filled in a few snaps while Orakpo was out getting his injured finger tended to.
Defensive back: David Amerson 73, Meriweather 71, DeAngelo Hall 35, Ryan Clark 73, E. J. Biggers 24, Bashaud Breeland 40
Breeland only played a few snaps before Hall went out with an Achilles injury. It looks like Breeland is the new starter so he will be on the field nearly every play going forward.
