When regular people run out of candy, they have to go out and buy more. But when Redskins star Josh Norman runs out of candy, the National Confectioners Association makes a special delivery to Redskins Park in Ashburn.
Or at least that's what happened today.
Delivery complete. Have a great weekend, Josh Norman Washington Redskins! #httr #AlwaysATreatPosted by National Confectioners Association on Friday, October 7, 2016
The backstory here is pretty sweet. It all goes back to Norman being mic'd up by NFL Films for the Redskins game last Sunday.
The mics captured an exchange where veteran defensive lineman Ziggy Hood apologized for eating Norman's lifesaver gummies without permission, saying he would pay his teammate back. Norman said don't bother, just replace them.
The after practice on Wednesday, Hood admitted to feeling guilty for clandestinedly snatching his teammate's candy out of his locker.
Here's Hood's side of the story, via The Washington Post:
“I just noticed that he had a bag in his locker, and I went in there and took full advantage of them,” Hood said. “I owed the man back, so I figured if he starts asking questions, I didn’t want him to go around without not knowing. So I had to confess and get it off my chest. That’s all it was, just a little small talk during the game.”
Then, somehow another bag of lifesavers appeared in the Norman's locker without either player being able to explain it.
Now, judging by the National Confectioners Association's Facebook post above, it was a surprise delivery by the candy trade association based in Washington, D.C.
Just one of the unexpected perks of being Washington's hometown team.
