Watch a compilation of the best quips from Kobe Bryant's press conference in the video player above.
Kobe Bryant put on a vintage performance -- 31 points and 3 assists -- in the Lakers' 108-104 win over the Wizards Wednesday. But the real show began after the final buzzer, when he gave a glorious, let-it-all-hang-out press conference for throngs of media.
Bryant made his retirement announcement on Sunday, essentially kicking off a farewell tour to span the rest of the 2015-16 season.
His final postgame presser at Verizon Center turned into a career retrospective as media members seized on one of their last audiences with Bryant.
The Lakers legend was refreshingly candid no matter the topic. His attitude made for some-laugh-out-loud moments amid the nostalgia.
Five of his best sound bytes:
On staying warm on the bench: "Jumping up and down and running in place, doing all those things that old guys do at the gym that you see and you make fun of."
On needing a bounce back game for his confidence: "Nah. Maybe for writers like you, maybe! But for myself? [Laughs] Personally, I just do my best."
On whether fan reaction exceeded expectations: "Yes, yes. I thought everybody hated me! It's really cool, man."
On if he'd ever coach: "Coaching? Me? [Laughs] That’s about the funniest thing I’ve heard all year. Nah, it’s just no. That’s not going to happen."
On his desire to play in Rio: “I’m just trying to get through another, what 63? And if I’m still standing after that, then we can see.”
