Earlier tonight, it was announced that the Wizards' G-League team would be named the Capital City Go-Go.
Some Wizards players are still getting on board:
Bradley Beal is NOT a fan of Go-Go. Whoa. Says he will adapt to it a bit since he is in D.C., but not quite his cup of tea.— Hoop District (@HoopDistrictDC) December 2, 2017
Keef on the other hand said "it's funny, but I'm rolling with it."
Says he doesn't know any songs, just the beat.
The name makes a lot of sense, given that DC is known as the home of Go-Go. To celebrate the naming, the Wizards announced the “Wizards Friday Night Concert Series Powered by Monster" featuring such artists as artists Experience Unlimited (E.U.), and DJ Kool.
Go-Go is described by Wikipedia as "a blend of funk, rhythm and blues, and old school hip-hop, with a focus on lo-fi percussion instruments and funk-style jamming."
While Go-Go music might sound different, it's easy to come around on. Anyone interested in getting into Go-Go music should start with just one man: Chuck Brown, the Godfather of Go-Go. But if a traditional hip-hop sound is what you're looking for, listen to The Backyard Band, Mambo Sauce and of course, Wale. Those four acts will get you headed in the direction you need to go in.
Overall, however, the name was a hit:
