2011 U.S. Open: Day 10 action
Rushed out onto the court for the first Arthur Ashe Stadium match on Day 10, No. 2 Rafael Nadal of Spain didn't look comfortable, falling into an 0-3 hole against Gilles Muller of Luxembourg before rain forced the players back into the locker room.
Planted in place
A quarterfinal finish at the 2008 U.S. Open marked the only time prior to this year that Luxembourg's Gilles Muller had made it past the third round of a Grand Slam tournament. In 2011 in New York, he is taking on No. 2 Rafael Nadal of Spain in the fourth round.
Running it down
No. 21 Andy Roddick of the United States took a 3-1 first-set lead over No. 5 David Ferrer on Sept. 7, 2011 before the skies opened and play was suspended.
Eye on the ball
In the fourth round at the U.S. Open for the second straight year, Spain's David Ferrer, the No. 5 seed, is looking to make it to the quarterfinals at the tournament for just the second time ever.
Watching the weather
No. 4 Andy Murray of Great Britain was on serve at 1-2 in his fourth-round match against American Donald Young when he felt raindrops coming down onto the Grandstand court at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
Things are looking up
Prior to this year at the 2011 U.S. Open, American Donald Young had made it past the first round at a Grand Slam just twice in 12 tries. His run so far in New York has helped him reach the fourth round at a major for the first time ever.
With the players still participating in the 2011 U.S. Open stuck in the locker room due to rain, the big screen at Arthur Ashe Stadium turned back the clock to show legendary matches from previous years at the tournament, including the 2002 battle between Andre Agassi (pictured) and Pete Sampras.
With a brief break from the rain on Sept. 7, 2011, fans slowly trickled into Arthur Ashe Stadium, but they were treated to just around 15 minutes of tennis action before another delay due to rain.
A full force of workers did their best to quickly dry the courts at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center so Day 10 tennis action could get underway.
