With the Solheim Cup set to begin Friday morning, here are the biggest questions to be answered.
Mike Florio and Chris Simms take a deep dive into what’ll be a “tall order” for the Giants in the 49ers’ home opener on TNF in Week 3.

  • CIN Quarterback #9
This was what we expected from Burrow, as the Bengals opened their first practice of the week in preparation for Monday night’s matchup against the Rams. Burrow said earlier that his calf is “not as sore” as it was earlier in the week, but didn’t commit to playing on Monday. Fantasy managers waiting to hear on Burrow’s status should have a backup plan in place, given that way may not know whether or not he’s playing until closer to kickoff. If Burrow is unable to go, Jake Browning would be in line for the start. Fantasy managers shouldn’t bank on Browning as their contingency plan.
  • LAR Wide Receiver #17
The Rams don’t play until Monday night, leaving Nacua with two days of practice still to go. Head coach Sean McVay said he plans to limit Nacua in practice due to his injury, but doesn’t believe he will be affected come game day. Nacua is seeing all-world volume in the Rams offense and has quickly turned into one of the best late-round values we’ve seen in fantasy. He’ll be a must-start high-end WR2 against the Bengals in prime time.
  • PHI Running Back #14
It puts Gainwell on track to return for Monday Night Football against the Bucs after missing Week 2 vs. Minnesota. Gainwell ended up missing only one game, but D’Andre Swift re-proved how much more explosive he is than the Eagles’ coaching staff favorite, turning 31 touches into a ludicrous 181 yards from scrimmage. Gainwell isn’t just going to be mothballed, but it stands to reason Swift probably earned another lead back shot. FLEX finders should be aiming higher than Kenny G for Week 3.
  • MIA Wide Receiver #10
Hill popped up on Wednesday’s injury report, but we had no knowledge of him dealing with an injury prior to then. Whatever it is he’s working through appears to be minor, as the Dolphins upgraded him to full on Thursday, suggesting he’ll be ready to go for Week 3 against the Broncos. Assuming he plays, Hill can be slotted in as a top five fantasy receiver, as usual.
  • ATL Running Back #84
Patterson has yet to suit up for a regular season game, and was scratched for Week 2 despite being a full participant in every practice. This thigh injury has hampered Patterson for the last several weeks, and could sideline him again in Week 3 against the Lions. Even if he’s healthy/active, Patterson is completely off the fantasy radar with Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier handling most of the workload.
  • SF Wide Receiver #11
This was always the most likely outcome after Aiyuk barely practiced on the short week. That, combined with the 49ers operating as massive home favorites make a week of rest by far the most prudent choice for a player believed to be battling a sprained AC joint. That’s an injury players usually gut through, though not always effectively. Aiyuk is at least getting some time off. His absence makes Deebo Samuel a high-end WR2, if not WR1. Jauan Jennings and Ronnie Bell will see the biggest uptick in snaps in Aiyuk’s absence but won’t be on the re-draft radar.
  • NO Quarterback #7
Whatever concerns the Saints had over Hill’s knee appear to be minor at best. Wednesday marked the first time Hill was on the injury report this season, and he was back practicing in full after just one limited session. Hill has a chance to earn work both on the ground and through the air with Jamaal Williams (hamstring) sidelined for the foreseeable future. As a result, those who can start Hill as a tight end could benefit from a potentially high-volume day.
  • NO Running Back #25
Barring any setbacks, Miller appears ready for his NFL debut, which will come in Week 3 against the Packers. The dual-threat running back has dealt with knee and hamstring injuries over the last month, and was sidelined for the first two games as a result of those injuries. Now healthy, it’s possible Miller serves as the Saints’ RB1 with Jamaal Williams (hamstring) expected to be sidelined for the next several weeks. Veteran Tony Jones could split snaps with Miller, but Miller is the far more explosive option. Fantasy managers who have been waiting to start Miller should do so with caution in his first week. We wouldn’t recommend playing him outside of deeper leagues.
  • CLE Wide Receiver #2
Cooper missed Wednesday’s practice but was back and ready to go on Thursday. The Browns’ No. 1 receiver surprised everyone on Monday night after he suited up despite previous reports that he would be out, and turned in a 90 yard outing on seven receptions against the Steelers. With one day of practice left to go, there’s a good chance Cooper will suit up in Week 3 against the Titans. He can be treated as a fringe WR2/WR3 in that matchup.
  • DAL Defensive Back #7
The injury to Diggs deals a massive blow to the Cowboys and their No. 1 ranked defense. Since being drafted by the team in 2020, Diggs has turned into one of the league’s best ball hawking corners, totaling 18 interceptions in 47 games. Diggs led the league with 11 interceptions in 2021 and already has one interception and one forced fumble this season. The star corner is fresh off signing a five-year, $97 million contract, but will now work on rehabbing to be back at the start of the 2024 season.
