Jayden Daniels completed 24-of-35 passes for 268 yards and two touchdowns in the Commanders’ 23-20, Wild Card win over the Bucs, adding 36 carries on 13 rushes.

The Bucs did a good job of containing Daniels on the ground, but he made one of the biggest plays of the game when he avoided a Calijah Kancey sack and ran for a first down that allowed Washington to bleed out the clock and take the game-winning field goal. The rookie quarterback was poised and under control the entire game, never really making any major mistakes. He took what the Bucs gave him underneath and hit on big plays down the field when he had the opportunity. It was quite a playoff debut, and he could put up another impressive statline next week against a banged-up Lions defense.
A.J. Brown

PHI Wide Receiver #11

A.J. Brown caught 1-of-3 targets for 10 yards in Philadelphia’s Wild Card Round win over the Packers.

He was caught reading a book on the sideline while the defense was on the field — we can’t blame him after watching the Packers offense — and was the target on an incomplete shot play off a faked tush push. These weeks are on the table for the Eagles and Brown’s fantasy football standing comes and goes with how their offensive design measures up to the task. He’ll look to rebound next week against the lower of the two NFC seeds to survive the 3-6/4-5 games. Maybe he’ll read some Cioran on the sideline for his fantasy managers next week.
Jordan Love

GB Quarterback #10

Jordan Love completed 20-of-33 passes for 212 yards and three interceptions in Green Bay’s 22-10, Wild Card Round loss to the Eagles.

Love wasn’t helped by the fact that a) the Packers offensive line couldn’t go more than eight plays between holding penalties and b) Green Bay’s receivers getting injured at a prodigious enough rate to leave Malik Heath on the field in key downs. But it was not good enough for the Packers, who needed a transformative performance against a dominant Eagles defense and could not find it in Love. He finishes the year with a seasonal line of 3,389 passing yards, 25 touchdowns, and 11 picks. It’s not that the Packers are necessarily “bad,” but Love doesn’t have transformative weapons and the shape of the offense bent towards the run. It will be hard for him to be more than a bottom-tier QB1 with spike weeks without better receiving talent or a shift in offensive design in 2025.
Jalen Hurts

PHI Quarterback #1

Jalen Hurts completed 13-of-21 passes for 131 yards and two touchdowns in Philadelphia’s 22-10, Wild Card Round win over the Packers, adding six carries for 36 yards on the ground.

While Hurts was running, it was clear that he was running towards the sideline any chance he could — often at the expense of yards — and that he probably wasn’t going to be taking any unnecessary risks in the running game. After establishing a 10-0 lead with the help of a Packers kickoff return fumble, Hurts led drives of 11, five, six, and two yards while going 0-of-7 throwing to leave the Packers a small window to get back into the game. He rebounded in the third quarter, mostly thanks to a big play by Dallas Goedert. It wasn’t an altogether inspiring effort from Hurts, but the Eagles are good enough to win with this kind of performance at this point. The Eagles will await the lower-seeded winner of the 3-6 and 4-5 NFC games in the Divisional Round.
Romeo Doubs

GB Wide Receiver #87

Packers WR Romeo Doubs (concussion evaluation) left Green Bay’s Wild Card round game against the Eagles and did not return.

It looked rather scary when Doubs came down on the back of his helmet in the end zone, with several Packers players taking a knee around him before trainers rolled him on to his back and helped him into the locker room. Matt LaFleur gave no update on Doubs after the game. Doubs had two catches for 13 yards on his only two targets before leaving. (The incomplete pass on this play was wiped away via holding penalty.) Doubs missed two weeks after a concussion earlier this season. His 2024 season was marred by the concussions and a team-issued suspension for complaining about his target rate. Romeo enters his contract year in 2025 as someone who has shown a lot of promise in various games, but hasn’t been able to put together an impressive season yet. We’d be surprised if the Packers extended him. He likely enters the fantasy offseason as a WR4-type, or a best ball pick you hope bounces back while ill fortune befalls the receiving room around him.
Ray Davis

BUF Running Back #22

Ray Davis is “doing OK” after departing Sunday’s Wild Card win over the Broncos with a third quarter concussion.

The report, as it were, comes from Bills QB Josh Allen. It was Allen who led Davis too far on what was frankly a textbook “hospital ball.” Allen was upset with himself, and Broncos S Brandon Jones was apologetic even though he got put in no-man’s land on the play. Davis appeared to be out cold, though he made his way to the sideline in relatively short order. He is still probably a long shot to be ready for next weekend’s Ravens rematch in the Divisional Round. That would leave third-down back Ty Johnson as the change-of-pace option on the ground behind James Cook.
Josh Allen

BUF Quarterback #17

Josh Allen completed 20-of-26 passes for 272 yards and two touchdowns in the Bills’ 31-7, Wild Card win over the Broncos, adding eight carries for 46 yards.

Punched in the mouth early by allowing a 43-yard touchdown strike on the Broncos’ opening drive, the Bills responded with a championship-level, 31-0 avalanche afterwards. No play was more ridiculous than Allen’s 24-yard touchdown strike to Ty Johnson in the third quarter. Buying upwards of seven seconds on fourth down, Allen finally found Johnson open at the back of the end zone. He delivered the dart, and Johnson took care of the fancy footwork. It’s the kind of play that’s going to be needed in the Divisional Round, where the Bills will be rematching with a Ravens team that thumped them 35-10 early in the season. Your popcorn: It better be ready.
Deion Sanders

FA Head Coach

The Athletic’s Tashan Reed reports the Raiders have “zero interest” in Colorado’s Deion Sanders for their head-coaching vacancy.

Sanders, whose best players are moving on from the Buffs to the NFL, has been loosely connected to the Silver and Black, but they understandably are searching for a more proven option at this latest critical franchise juncture. Neon Deion could eventually get an NFL opportunity, but he’s probably a little too risky for most teams’ blood right now.
Kliff Kingsbury

WAS Offensive Coordinator

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Commanders OC Kliff Kingsbury will interview with the Bears and Saints for their head coaching vacancies this week.

Kingsbury has been a highly sought-after head coaching candidate after his season with the Commanders. In his first year with the team, the Commanders’ offense ranked top 10 in points scored, total yards, and EPA per play and earned a spot as a wild card team in the NFC playoffs. His ties to Bears quarterback Caleb Williams undoubtedly makes the job in Chicago particularly intriguing, but we’ll see where things go after the two sides sit down to meet. Kingsbury doesn’t have the same ties to the Saints, but could be drawn by a chance to compete in the NFC South with a chance to build his offense with either Derek Carr or a rookie quarterback of his choosing down the line.
Marcus Freeman

FA Head Coach

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports the Bears want to interview Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman for their head coaching vacancy.

Freeman and the Irish are a week away from competing for a national championship against Ohio State, but the Bears are hopeful the 39-year-old head coach will interview with them in the near future. It seems unlikely Freeman would speak with the Bears before next week’s game, but it wouldn’t be surprising if he opened conversations with them afterward. In his three full seasons as Notre Dame’s head coach, Freeman has led them to a 33-8 record with three-straight bowl game appearances and a 5-0 record in his bowl games. Freeman’s Irish went 14-1 this season and picked up wins over Georgia and Penn State just to reach the national championship game. Even if a job as an NFL head coach isn’t in his future for 2025, it wouldn’t be surprising if Freeman eventually made the leap to the NFL as he continues to prove himself as one of the top coaches in the nation.
