2020 NFL power rankings: Updated standings entering playoff rounds
Well, that was fun, wasn’t it? Kind of? Maybe?
All that can be said about the 2020 NFL regular season is that it happened. The NFL, in typical fashion, forged through despite a global pandemic and finished on time without any delays. Did you expect anything different?
Week 17 came and went. We expected drama and got … very little. The Arizona Cardinals couldn’t be the John Wolford-led Rams without Kyler Murray meaning we have to watch Mitchell Trubisky and the Bears for one more week. (Thanks, Kliff.)
In the AFC, the Bills ran over the Dolphins, backed over them and ran over them again, ending Miami’s playoff hopes and sending the Fins into the offseason with a big question surrounding Tua Tagovailoa.
The 49ers’ season came to a merciful end as Kyle Shanahan’s club couldn’t find one last upset in the bag, losing to the Seattle Seahawks to finish at 6-10. Now, Jimmy Garoppolo’s future will take center stage as Shanahan and John Lynch plot the course forward for a franchise just one season removed from a Super Bowl berth.
Elsewhere, the Raiders’ clown car got through the finish line with two of its four wheels attached as Derek Carr hit Darren Waller for a game-winning two-point conversion to give the Silver and Black an 8-8 finishing record.
In the biggest upset of all, the NFC East did have a team qualify for the playoffs. (I’m told that’s a rule. Not sure why, but we get to watch the Football Team play one more time because 16 painful games just weren’t enough.)
Anyways, the regular season is in the books. Here’s where every team stands as 14 march into the playoffs and 16 head home.
