The byproduct of finishing in last place in the NFC West in 2020 meant the 49ers got a favorable schedule in 2021, and San Francisco capitalized on that to finish with a 10-7 record this season and make the playoffs.

Despite the improvement, the 49ers still finished in third place in the division, behind the Los Angeles Rams and Arizona Cardinals. That means the 49ers will face a slightly harder schedule during the 2022 NFL season and will also face the third-place teams in the NFC East, AFC East and NFC North.

While the 49ers played more road games during the 2021 season, that will flip next season as they will host nine games at Levi's Stadium and travel for eight road games.

In addition to the traditional games against their NFC West rivals, the marquee 2022 home games are against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Tom Brady will return to the Bay Area, where he grew up, and face the 49ers, the team he rooted for as a kid. Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs will face San Francisco for the first time since beating them in Super Bowl LIV in Miami Gardens.

As for the road slate, the 49ers will head to Las Vegas to face the Raiders, and 2021 first-round draft picks Trey Lance and Justin Fields could face each other when San Francisco visits the Chicago Bears.

Here are the 49ers' home and road opponents for the 2022 NFL season, in no particular order. Times and dates for all 2022 games will be announces later:
