With their first of two third-round selections of the 2022 NFL Draft, the 49ers bolstered their backfield by picking LSU running back Ty Davis-Price at No. 93.

Davis-Price joins a crowded running back room in Santa Clara with Elijah Mitchell, Jeff Wilson Jr., Trey Sermon and JaMycal Hasty already in the fold. But in Kyle Shanahan's offense, the 49ers can never have enough running backs.

The 21-year-old Davis-Price played three seasons at LSU, finishing with 1,744 career rushing yards on 379 carries. He scored 15 rushing touchdowns.

Davis-Price also was effective as a receiver, catching 28 career passes for 185 yards for the Tigers over the last three years.

Davis-Price is listed at 6 feet tall and weighs 211 pounds.

ESPN's NFL Draft analyst Steve Muench provided this scouting report on Davis-Price.

"Davis-Price has an impressive combination of size, agility and top-end speed," Muench wrote. "He's quick, makes sharp cuts without losing momentum and gets better with each carry. He gets impatient at times and ball security has been an issue. Davis-Price's ball skills are inconsistent, and he's average in pass protection."

In the second round, the 49ers used the No. 61 overall selection on USC edge rusher Drake Jackson.
