Second-year cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon is expected to miss the 49ers' final two games of the season with a right knee sprain.

Witherspoon sustained an injury to his posterior cruciate ligament in the first quarter of the 26-23 overtime win over the Seattle Seahawks at Levi’s Stadium, according to the 49ers.

Witherspoon is likely to remain out of the lineup for the final two games of the season. Rookie cornerback Tarvarius Moore entered Sunday’s game in place of Witherspoon at right cornerback and played 67 snaps.

After getting off to a slow start, Witherspoon turned around his season and played well in coverage over the final stretch of the season. He is expected to be ready to participate in the 49ers’ entire offseason program.
