NFL pundits were surprised by the 49ers’ selection of Javon Kinlaw after trading back one spot in the 2020 NFL Draft, but by the end, general manager John Lynch was receiving plenty of praise for the pick.

Count Kinlaw’s future teammate and fellow defensive lineman Ronald Blair among those excited about the South Carolina product’s potential.

“Great pick, great pick,” Blair told 95.7 The Game on Thursday. “He’s a beast, he came through a lot of stuff, just watching his tape he just jumps off tape.

“He runs to the ball, he’s a physical specimen.”

Kinlaw’s highlights become even more impressive when realizing that most of his tape comes against SEC opponents with future NFL players all over the field.

Blair had 21 tackles and three sacks before tearing his ACL in a Week 9 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football.

The Appalachian State alum re-signed with the 49ers in late March, and with Kinlaw joining the fold, expect another dominant season from one of the NFL’s best position groups.
