Samuel underwent surgery to repair a fractured foot after sustaining the injury in June during a player-organized workout outside of Nashville, Tennessee.

The 49ers remain hopeful he will be able to play on Sunday, Sept. 13, when the 49ers open the regular season against the Arizona Cardinals at Levi's Stadium.
