Kittle ribs Miami TE Gesicki about stealing his celebration

George Kittle knows how to have fun on the football field.

He returned to the 49ers’ offense on Saturday and played a big role in the team’s 20-12 win over the Arizona Cardinals despite being limited to just 50 percent of the snaps. He finished the day with four catches that each resulted in first downs, meaning he had four opportunities to bust out his trademark celebration.

Maybe Miami Dolphins tight end Kyle Gesicki was watching the Niners game, because he copied Kittle’s first-down celebration later in the day vs. the Raiders. Kittle saw Gesicki’s recent post on Instagram and had to chime in.

NFL is something of a fraternity and it seems the same goes for position groups. You always see quarterbacks, kickers and punters dapping it up with their counterparts after games, so it’s cool to see a couple of the league’s top tight ends having fun through social media.

Kittle’s celebration stems from a Mexican lucha libre wrestler named Pentagon Jr., whose motto is “cero miedo” which translates to “no fear.” The 49ers tight end and wrestling fan said he’s been a fan of Pentagon Jr. since seeing him fight six different times while making a trip to 2019 Wrestlemania.

“His swagger in the ring and his confidence just kind of stuck with me,” Kittle said.

Kittle will have one more chance to celebrate some first downs on Sunday in the 49ers’ season finale against the Seattle Seahawks.
