49ers' George Kittle recalls meeting The Rock before Super Bowl LIV

If Deckard Shaw is ever out of reach, Luke Hobbs might want to pick up the phone and call George Kittle.

The 49ers star tight end's love for Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is well known, with the former Miami Hurricane and current global icon dubbing Kittle, a huge wrestling fan, as "The People's Tight End." Kittle got to meet The Rock, who was taking a break from saving the world with Dominic Toretto before Super Bowl Opening Night in Miami.

FOX was filming their introductory package for the game, and had Johnson announce the star players for each team. Kittle didn't learn he was about to meet his hero until he stepped on stage.

"I talked for like a total of 30 seconds," Kittle recalled Tuesday on "WWEBackstage." "My heart rate jumped, started going super hard It was crazy, but like, I stepped on the stage and they were like, 'Hey, The Rock is going to introduce you.' I was, 'The Rock?!' Then all of a sudden I was chest-to-chest with him, and I was like, 'Oh my goodness.' I think my favorite part of the whole thing was when I was saying bye, I definitely gave him a slap on the bicep and they are massive biceps, so I was pretty impressed."

Those impressive biceps have helped Johnson defeat cyber terrorists, survive a massive earthquake, out-smart genetically engineered mutant animals and do whatever he did in "Skyscraper."

The Rock was equally excited to meet the star of his favorite team.

Kittle and the 49ers couldn't bring home a title, falling to the Kansas City Chiefs 31-20. If they get back to the biggest stage in sports, perhaps Johnson can give them a pep talk on how to open up an "ice-cold can of whoopa--" on their opponent.
