SANTA CLARA – Rookie wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk's rookie debut will have to wait.

The 49ers announced Aiyuk as one of the team's inactive players for the team's season opener on Sunday at Levi's Stadium against the Arizona Cardinals.

On Saturday, the 49ers placed wide receiver Deebo Samuel on injured reserve, making him ineligible to play in the first three games of the season. Samuel underwent surgery in June to repair a fractured foot.

Without Samuel (and Aiyuk) available for the season opener, the 49ers are expected to start Kendrick Bourne with Dante Pettis seeing a lot of action as the other outside receiver. Trent Taylor is the team’s top slot receiver, with Richie James also available.

Center Ben Garland is also inactive, meaning the 49ers are likely to start newly acquired Hroniss Grasu. Garland has been out since Aug. 18 with an ankle sprain. Grasu was signed on Aug. 20.

The 49ers have all of their running backs active for the game. Tevin Coleman had been held out of practices when the air quality index exceeded 150 -- about the same level as the game is expected to be played. Coleman has sickle cell trait.

Coleman will join Raheem Mostert, Jerick McKinnon and Jeff Wilson, along with fullback Kyle Juszczyk, among the team's active players.

Here are the Cardinals inactives:

Kickoff is set for 1:25 p.m. at Levi's Stadium
