Left tackle Trent Williams and reserve running back Jeff Wilson will be in uniform Sunday when the 49ers face the New England Patriots in Foxboro, Mass.

Williams (ankle) and Wilson (calf) were listed as questionable for the 49ers' Week 7 game, though both were expected to be available.

Williams, a seven-time Pro Bowl player, will make his seventh start to open the season after coming to the 49ers in an offseason trade the Washington Football Team. Wilson is likely to see action, along with starter Jerick McKinnon and undrafted rookie JaMycal Hasty.

Running back Raheem Mostert, the 49ers' leading rusher, is out for at least three games with a high ankle sprain. The 49ers placed him on injured reserve on Saturday.

Wide receiver Dante Pettis was among the 49ers' inactive players for the third consecutive game. This week, coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed on Friday that the 49ers have made and received calls to explore the possibility of trading Pettis before the Nov. 3 deadline.

Pettis, the 49ers' second-round draft pick in 2018, started the 49ers' season opener but has been targeted just one time with no receptions this season. Pettis has just two touches the entire season -- returning two punts for 14 yards.

On Saturday, the 49ers promoted two safeties from the practice squad. Veteran Johnathan Cyprien and undrafted rookie Jared Mayden were needed to suit up against the Patriots with starting safeties Jimmie Ward (quadriceps) and Jaquiski Tartt (groin) sidelined with injuries.

Marcell Harris and Tarvarius Moore are expected to step into the lineup as the 49ers' starting safeties.

Dre Greenlaw will start in place of linebacker Kwon Alexander, who will miss his second game due to a high ankle sprain.
