49ers expect to be short on D-linemen in key game vs. WFT

The 49ers figure to have two key defensive linemen unavailable to face Washington on Sunday.

Backup defensive lineman Kevin Givens was ruled out of action, as he was excused to leave the team’s Arizona base to be there for the birth of his daughter, a source told NBC Sports Bay Area.

The 49ers officially listed Givens as "out" on the team’s official injury report. Givens has taken on a bigger role in recent games as one of the team's rotational defensive linemen. He likely would have started Sunday's game against Washington in Glendale, Arizona.

The 49ers listed starting nose tackle D.J. Jones as doubtful with an ankle injury. Jones sustained the injury on the first drive of the 49ers’ 34-24 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Monday night.

Cornerback Emmanuel Moseley is also doubtful with a hamstring injury. The club is holding out hope nickelback K’Waun Williams will be available to return to action after sustaining an ankle injury on Nov. 5.

Colton McKivitz will start at right guard with veteran Tom Compton ruled out of action due to a concussion -- his second in three weeks. Backup center Hroniss Grasu is also out with a knee injury.

Washington will not have the services of their top running back, rookie Antonio Gibson, who is sidelined with turf toe. Gibson leads Washington with 659 yards and 11 touchdowns on 141 carries for a 4.7-yard average.
