Whether it be talks of the 49ers signing Tom Brady this offseason or looking back at a crucial overthrow in San Francisco's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIV, Jimmy Garoppolo has faced a lot of criticism the past few months.
Sometimes it's easy to forget just how successful his season was. Here's your reminder.
Garoppolo, while coming off a torn ACL, was the only QB in the NFL to finish the regular season in the top five in three crucial categories: Passing touchdowns, completion percentage and yards per pass attempt.

Garoppolo went 13-3 as the 49ers' starting quarterback in the regular season and led San Francisco to an NFC West championship. Coach Kyle Shanahan certainly took the keys from his QB in the playoffs, but that doesn't take away from what Garoppolo did to lead the Niners to the No. 1 seed in the NFC.
In his first full season under Shanahan, Garoppolo placed himself in 49ers quarterback history. Here's where his 2019 regular season ranks in franchise history: Passing yards (fourth, 3,978), passing touchdowns (eighth, 27), passer rating (seventh, 102.0), completion percentage (third, 69.1) and yards per attempt (eighth, 8.4).

Throughout the offseason, teammates like George Kittle have continued to have Garoppolo's back. Shanahan and general manager John Lynch have as well. But after laying an egg late in a Super Bowl loss, the 28-year-old will have to continue to prove himself.
For now, though, all he can do is look back at his successful season last year and believe it's not even close to his.
