49ers' Joe Staley sympathizes with Antonio Brown's helmet complaints

Antonio Brown isn’t the only NFL player in the Bay Area who had an issue with the league’s new rules regarding helmets.

49ers tackle Joe Staley made the switch to the new helmet before last season, and lamented the change prior to the team’s second preseason game Monday night in Denver.

“No, I made a big stink about it. I loved that helmet,” Staley told James Palmer of the NFL Network. “It suction-cupped to your head, it didn’t move at all."

“In my opinion, I understand why Antonio Brown is upset, because it’s not a vision thing. I’m not a wide receiver, but when you’re sprinting down the field, the helmet doesn’t move because it's stuck right against your head."

Staley spoke about making a change in 2012 due to the reported safety concerns but broke his nose after the new helmet slid down his face during his first game wearing it. Staley switched back after that game and now wears a custom helmet that was 3-D printed to fit Staley’s head.

Maybe AB can find the same people who made Staley’s custom helmet to help the Raiders’ wideout find some headwear that is up to his lofty standards.
