San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick is named in a “suspicious incident” report filed last week by the Miami Police Department.

Quinton Patton, a 49ers wide receiver, and Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Ricardo Lockette, a close friend of Kaepernick, were also named in the report filed by a woman who told police she woke up in a hospital and did not know how she got there.

"There's no evidence of a crime or a sexual assault," Miami Police spokesman Rene Pimental told the Bay Area News Group. "This report is simply an incident report taken at the woman's request."

Kaepernick and Patton, who is entering his second NFL season, have been working out in Miami at Bonmarito Performance Systems since the second week of February.

Kaepernick and Lockette formed a tight friendship during Lockette's time on the 49ers' practice squad in 2012 and during the offseason. The 49ers released Lockette, a wide receiver, in training camp and he finished the season with the Super Bowl-winning Seahawks.

The alleged victim reported to police that on April 1 at approximately 9 p.m., she visited Lockette's apartment. Kaepernick and Patton were also there. She said she mixed drinks and prepared shots for them and was told that in order to drink the shots, she had to "hit" the bong, which contained marijuana, according to the police report.

She said to police that she began to feel light-headed and went to a bedroom to lie down. Kaepernick, with whom she said she had a previous sexual relationship, followed her into the bedroom. They did not have sex, she told police.

Shortly thereafter, the alleged victim said she could not remember anything else that happened. She woke up in a hospital bed and does not remember how she got there or who transported her to the hospital, according to the police report.

Miami Police states that the investigation is continuing.

Kaepernick, a three-year NFL veteran, is considered a possible face-of-the-49ers player and is line for a lucrative contract extension.

Recently at the NFL owners meetings in Orlando, Fla., team general manager Trent Baalke said the objective was reach a long-term contract extension with Kaepernick before the start of training camp in late-July. Kaepernick’s original four-year contract expires after the upcoming season.

Moreover, 49ers CEO Jed York said, “I think there’s a lot that he’s done that has put him in that position where he should be paid like one of the top quarterbacks in the league. And I think that’s where we’ll end up -- whether we get it done now or later. We hope we get it done soon.”

On Thursday when the first report of the Miami investigation involving Kaepernick surfaced, Baalke issued the following statement: “The 49ers organization is aware of the recent media report regarding Colin Kaepernick and is in the process of gathering the pertinent facts.”

Richard Sherman was 'out there on one leg' in first season with 49ers

The Warriors late Wednesday night alleviated a lot of concerns about the long-term health of Kevin Durant, stating the star forward did not sustain an Achilles injury.

Veteran cornerback Richard Sherman knows first hand how much an Achilles injury can linger through the next season.

Sherman tried last season to downplay the impact a torn Achilles had on him during his first season with the 49ers. Sherman started 14 games for the 49ers and did not record an interception for the first time in his eight-year career. Sherman, a four-time Pro Bowl selection, ranks fourth among active players with 32 career interceptions.

Now, as the 49ers are in the third week of the team’s offseason conditioning program, Sherman feels free to admit the difficulty he experienced as he returned from the Achilles injury last year.

“I’m much healthier. I was kind of out there on one leg,” Sherman, 31, told Chris Biderman of the Sacramento Bee this week.

Sherman sustained a torn right Achilles on Nov. 9, 2017, while playing for the Seattle Seahawks. After the Seahawks released him, Sherman signed with the 49ers in March and started 14 games last season after his entire offseason was devoted to rehab.

Sherman’s physical condition did not prove to be a detriment to the 49ers. He was rarely tested as the team’s starting left cornerback. Quarterbacks, instead, chose to go after the 49ers’ right side, where Ahkello Witherspoon, Jimmie Ward, Greg Mabin and Tarvarius Moore started games.

The 49ers set a dubious record with two interceptions – an all-time NFL single-season worst. Yet, the only notable moves the 49ers made to the defensive backfield this offseason were to re-sign free safety Jimmie Ward and sign cornerback Jason Verrett. Ward and Verrett have battled injury issues in their careers. Both signed one-year contracts. The 49ers invested a sixth-round draft pick in Virginia cornerback Tim Harris.

"I'm 100 percent good with (the defensive backfield). I don't think it'll be an issue," Sherman told the Bee. "The secondary wasn't the issue last year. We'd lose games by a touchdown down the stretch, the last second. It's not like, 'Oh man, the secondary was just getting killed the whole game and that's why we lost.' It was just guys' immaturity, mistakes, just not executing. Not knowing how to finish, not having finishers."

The 49ers took the offseason approach that the best way to improve the production in the secondary is to focus on a better pass rush. The 49ers acquired edge rusher Dee Ford in a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs and used the No. 2 overall pick on Ohio State defensive end Nick Bosa.

Jimmy Garoppolo mum on advice Tom Brady gave him about ACL rehab

Just because Jimmy Garoppolo no longer is a New England Patriot doesn't mean he has stopped learning from Tom Brady.

The 49ers quarterback currently is rehabbing from a torn ACL suffered during Week 3 last season against the Kansas City Chiefs. Brady suffered a torn ACL during the first game of the 2008 season ... against the Chiefs. You see where this is going.

Garoppolo has been grinding during his rehab, and recently was spotted at the 145th running of the Kentucky Derby, where he met up with, you guessed it, Tom Brady.

On Wednesday, Jimmy G was asked about the advice Brady might have given him about coming back from a torn ACL, but the 27-year-old wasn't about to divulge TB12's method.

"I've got to keep that confidential," Garoppolo said, via The Mercury News. "But I did actually talk to him about it for a bit. He's been through everything, seen everything, so whenever I can pick his brain that's a good thing."

By all accounts, Garoppolo's rehab is going well, and the quarterback is on track to start in the Sept. 8 season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. With organized team activities slated to begin May 20, Garoppolo is focused on getting his body used to certain movements.

"It's a combination of reactionary stuff. That's a big part of it," Garoppolo said. "When you're doing rehab, everything is, 'Do this movement, do this.' Well, in this game, you're more reacting than thinking. Getting used to those type of movements. We've been doing some of them and patterning them. It's coming along well."

Garoppolo and the 49ers hope the quarterback's road back mirrors Brady's.

The six-time Super Bowl champion returned to the field in 2009, and threw for 4,398 yards and 28 touchdowns. But Brady really took back off in 2010, throwing 36 TD passes to just four interceptions.

The 49ers did their best to get Garoppolo more offensive weapons, drafting wide receivers Deebo Samuel and Jalen Hurd in the second and third round, respectively. Those two, combined with George Kittle and Dante Pettis, should give Garoppolo enough options to strike fear into the hearts of defenses across the NFL.

But it all hinges on the health of Garoppolo's left knee.
