49ers' Nick Bosa listed as questionable but looks ready to play vs. Bengals

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Defensive end Nick Bosa is listed as questionable but appears to be on pace to play Sunday when the 49ers return to action against the Cincinnati Bengals after participating in practice Friday.

“He looked good walking through and everything,” 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said. “We’ll talk to him and see how he looked in individual (drills) and probably make a decision Sunday morning.”

Bosa played 38 of the 49ers’ 70 defensive snaps in the team’s Week 1 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He recorded one sack and three tackles.

Bosa was held out of practices at Youngstown State on Wednesday and Thursday due to a sore ankle. He missed a month of practice and all four preseason games after sustaining a right ankle sprain Aug. 7.

The 49ers held Bosa out of practice early this week on the artificial surface practice field to give him a better chance to play Sunday against the Bengals. Bosa returned to limited practice Friday before the 49ers were scheduled to take the short flight to Cincinnati.

“I think we’re always a little more careful when you are on turf, doing it three days in a row, especially with ankle stuff,” Shanahan said. “We are more careful with that, but I think it would’ve been that same way, regardless.”

Running back Tevin Coleman (ankle), and wide receivers Trent Taylor (foot) and Jalen Hurd (back) will not play Sunday. The 49ers hope each will be available after the 49ers return from the bye week on Monday, Oct. 7, after playing next week against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
