49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo throwing to injured receivers during bye week

The 49ers enter their bye week with a perfect 3-0 record and plenty of reasons to enjoy some much-needed relaxation. Many players will take the time to get away with their friends and family.

That won't be the case for quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.

Coach Kyle Shanahan said Garoppolo will stay back in the Bay Area this week and will keep his arm in shape.

"He puts in a lot of hours, and I know he's going to hang out (during the bye) and throw a little bit," Shanahan said Tuesday on KNBR's Tolbert, Krueger and Brooks show. "We've got some injured receivers still staying back, trying to rehab, so they're ready for next week. I think Jimmy will be here and, hopefully, working out some of the guys."

The 49ers are expected to bring back some important weapons on offense for Week 5 against the Browns, too.

Rookie wide receiver Jalen Hurd has been dealing with a stress reaction in his back, but Shanahan believes the third-round draft pick will make his debut in the team's next game. Coleman, who is a receiving threat out of the backfield, left the 49ers' Week 1 win with a high ankle sprain and should be ready to roll against Cleveland.

Getting Garoppolo on the same page with the two will be huge, and could be a key to the 49ers already tying their win total from all of last season.
