The San Francisco 49ers Wednesday announced they have re-signed DL Cassius Marsh to a two-year deal.
“Since joining the team late last season, Cassius has impressed us with his unique skill set and the tremendous energy and passion he brings to all phases of the game,” said 49ers General Manager John Lynch. “Cassius is a great example of our desire to reward our own players with contract extensions as we continue to build out our roster. We’re excited to have him as a 49er moving forward.”
Marsh (6-4, 245) was originally claimed off waivers by the 49ers on November 22, 2017 from the New England Patriots. He appeared in each of the team’s final six games of the season and registered 10 tackles, two sacks and two forced fumbles.

Originally drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the fourth round (108th overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft, Marsh appeared in 37 games (one start) and registered 40 tackles, three sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery in three seasons with the Seahawks (2014-16). He also saw action in four postseason games where he added one tackle. Marsh was traded to New England on September 2, 2017. He appeared in nine games (one start) and tallied 16 tackles, one sack, one forced fumble and one blocked field goal with the Patriots before being waived on November 21.
A 25-year-old native of Simi Valley, CA, Marsh attended UCLA (2010-13), where he appeared in 50 games (38 starts) and registered 155 tackles, 25.5 tackles for loss, 16 sacks, five fumble recoveries and two forced fumbles.
