49ers rookie Dante Pettis suffers knee injury in loss to Bears

The hits keep coming for the 49ers.

A few minutes after running back Matt Breida suffered an ankle injury Sunday against the Chicago Bears, rookie wide receiver Dante Pettis sustained an ugly-looking knee injury.

In the third quarter, the 49ers officially ruled Pettis, along with Breida and tight end Garrett Celek, out for the game.

After the game, 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said Pettis suffered an injury to his MCL. His season is over.

The injury to Pettis occurred with 11:28 remaining in the second quarter. He caught a pass from Nick Mullens and tried to break to the outside. Two Bears defenders converged quickly, though, and spun Pettis to the ground, torqueing his legs.

Pettis stayed down on the turf for a few minutes and needed assistance to get to the sideline.
