49ers-Seahawks injury report: Young receivers must step up in Seattle

Share

The pair is not comprised of either of the two veteran starters when the season began, but the 49ers might finally have some continuity at wide receiver Sunday in Seattle.

Dante Pettis and Kendrick Bourne will start Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks, making it just the third time the same receivers started back-to-back games this season. The 49ers have not had the same two wideouts start three games in a row.

The 49ers on Friday ruled out Marquise Goodwin and Pierre Garçon from playing Sunday.

Goodwin remained away from the team to deal with a serious family matter, and Garçon has not been available to practice due to a lingering knee issue.

That means quarterback Nick Mullens will again have Pettis and Bourne as the starters.

“It’s not the ideal situation you want throughout the year, but it’s nice to have some continuity for Nick and for the offense two weeks in a row,” 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said on 49ers Game Plan, which airs Saturday at 7 p.m. on NBC Bay Area (Ch. 3).

Rookie safety D.J. Reed and guard Joshua Garnett were also ruled out from playing against the Seahawks.
