The 49ers have agreed on a two-year deal with former Buccaneers quarterback Josh Johnson, the 49ers announced Thursday night.
Josh is a promising young player that has experience in our offensive system, said 49ers General Manager Trent Baalke. He is a skilled athlete with good arm talent. Josh has shown promise in limited action, both as a back-up and starter at the NFL level. We are pleased to add him to our team.
Johnson was drafted by the Buccaneers in the 5th round of the 2008 NFL Draft, and in three years as a backup he appeared in 26 games, completing 96 of 177 passes with five touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

Jim Harbaugh coached Johnson at the University of San Diego, where Johnson holds four USD passing records, including touchdown passes (113), completions (724), attempts (1,065), and passing yards (9,699).
He also rushed for 1,864 yards and 19 touchdowns for the Toreros.
