The 49ers’ filled the final spot on their 90-man roster on Monday with the re-signing of running back Kendall Gaskins.

Gaskins, who signed a two-year contract, was waived on May 6 when the 49ers signed 12 undrafted rookies to contracts.

The 49ers have been down one player on their 90-man roster since running back Jarryd Hayne retired on May 15 to pursue a spot on the Fiji rugby sevens team for the Summer Olympics.

Gaskins, 25, appeared in nine games last season and gained 38 yards on 16 rushing attempts. He spent the 2014 season on the 49ers’ practice squad.

Gaskins will compete for a roster spot behind starting running back Carlos Hyde. Shaun Draughn, DuJuan Harris, Mike Davis and rookie Kelvin Taylor are the other backs on the 49ers' 90-man roster.
